Alexandra and her husband learn together!

IMG_6078
Dear Brooke,

Alexandra attended the Safe Birth and Family Health workshop in Tsunkintsa, Ecuador, with her husband Ramon. She is pregnant with her first child. They both enjoyed learning about the different methods of attending a safe birth. She is nourishing the experience of her first pregnancy and is not afraid of the experience of giving birth for the first time.
In the Safe Birth and Family Health workshops, the Achuar facilitators educate community members in the family planning rhythm method (fixed-calendar days contraception), which is a family planning method that is particularly acceptable within the Achuar culture. Ramon is wearing a rhythm method collar so that he and his wife can plan for their family. Alexandra has not counted her cycle yet, so her husband has made a collar for cycles of 24, 28, and 32 days. Both Ramon and Alexandra are excited to use and apply their collar and birth kit, effectively working towards ensuring the health of their new family. They both were very thankful to Jungle Mama’s for the birth kit! Your contribution has not only provided Alexandra and Ramon with the opportunity to have a safe birth, but s also responsible for generating interest in birth kits in Tsunkintsa! Thank you Brooke!
