Aurora was one of the 40 Achuar women who attended the Jungle Mamas Safe Birth and Family Health workshop in the community of Wampuik, Ecuador this past June. In this workshop, she learned about safe birth, women’s and community health and well-being, human reproduction, and family planning. The goal of Jungle Mamas is to empower these women with the tools necessary to have safe births in their territory.
Aurora now feels much more competent to have her baby under safe conditions within her community. She is relieved that she will not have to travel many hours to the nearest hospital for her birth. Thanks to your generous donation, Barbara, Aurora now has community-wide support to ensure she will have a safe birth.
