Tsapik can welcome her baby into the world with a New Safe Birth Kit

IMG_7580
Dear Milind,

This past June, Jungle Mamas ran one its Safe Birth and Family Health workshops in the community of Wampuik. This last workshop was considered one of the most successful ones in the history of the Jungle Mamas workshops; it set records in attendance and in the level of active participation from the women who attended. Tsapik had the pleasure of being one of them.

In each workshop, Jungle Mamas employees teach about the use of a safe birth kit. Each birth kit contains maternal postpartum pads, cotton diapers to measure the amount of bleeding once the baby is born, strings to tie and cut the umbilical cord, two pairs of sanitary gloves, hand soap, a sterile sheet to measure the bleeding and maintain the space clean, a candle for night births, a traditional scarf to wrap the baby, and baby clothes for the first months.

Tsapik is from Wampuik in the Ecuadorian province of Morona Santiago. She was one of the most enthusiastic women at the workshop in June, wanting to know as much as she could absorb on how to bring her baby into this world under the safest conditions possible. Thank you, Milind, for your generous donation of a birth kit to Tsapik!
